The Garden of Europe – Keukenhof, Lisse – The Netherlands

So this year I decided to visit some really touristic sites of Holland, get to know my own country a bit better. Most of those places I haven’t visited… That’s why I went to the Keukenhof in Lisse.

Flowerparade Lisse

I was in Lisse for the big flowerparade and I stayed overnight in Lisse. I went with my aunt to the Keukenhof. Just like the day before it was a sunny day and great for a walk through the big park. Not always common in May for Holland, it can be really cold also.

The Garden of Europe – De Keukenhof

It was almost overwhelming stepping into the park full of tulips in every colour you can imagine. When you start walking you pass meadows of tulips with all kinds of patterns. It is a park so there are big trees standing in between those long coloured stripes of tulips.

Also there is a big pond, I saw some really great swans swimming in there. In the pond was a nice path where you can cross a bit of the pond, every body wanted to walk there of course, very nice structure. For kids even exciting to walk on, they look like the leafs of a lilly.

In the  park there are a couple of bastions. They have names of our royal house like Beatrix or Orange Nassau. The Beatrix Pavilion is the decor for Europe’s biggest show of anthuriums, orchids and bromeliads. All the colours are there, all the species exist were there.

Or Chrysanthemums in the Orange Nassau. All kinds, size and colours you can dream of.
The theme will be different every week or every other week. You can look on the internet which theme will be there when you want to visit.
